Winter Art Session and More

I can’t believe our Fall Art session is coming to an end.  Our last after school class is Friday Nov. 17th.  The after school kids have completed beautiful projects using techniques that broadened their understanding of how art is made.  We bent wire, painted with yarn, created monoprints from plexiglass, bled tissue paper, and painted murals all inspired by Calder and Miro. It was fun!  It was messy! It was kind of hard!  I can’t wait to show you their portfolios.

We had a successful first session and are excited to move on to the next one.  The after school Winter session will begin on the week of January 15th.  The program will run for 9 weeks; registration is now open! Our two featured artists are Frida Kahlo and Maud Lewis, two extraordinary American women, who both struggled with physical debilitating ailments, yet became important artists in their genre.  I know your kids will love them.

Our Open Studio Saturdays will spring forward again to the last Saturday of every month, and we will keep featuring all the process art that kids enjoy.  Be sure to also check our Art Camp Days on school closures early; they do sell out pretty fast.

OPEN STUDIO SATURDAYS Our last Open Studio Saturday featured a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos theme. We painted and carved pumpkins, created spooky trees, and much more. Our next one is Nov. 18th at 11:00 am.

Please keep us in mind for a Winter birthday, we are positive your children will love an arty birthday party and we love planning those too.  We offer several themes or you can bring your own idea and we can design a party based on what your child loves the most.

Lastly, we created two after school mini Art Camp Weeks for the first two weeks of December.  Week One (Dec. 4 – Dec. 8) is Storytelling though the Visual Arts.  Your kids will be storytelling masters and will create a graphic novel with props, as well as a story box complete with characters and objects.  Week Two (Dec. 11 – Dec. 15) is Handmade Holiday Gifts, when they will be creating a gift to someone new each day of the week. What fun!

Thank you for your support, your children and I appreciate it.
